Best Minecraft Mods 2020

Here we’ve collected the most useful Minecraft mods, suitable for all popular Minecraft versions. We’ve hand picked mods for overall world modification, navigation, item management and survival. Leave on the comments your favorite modes and we may include them in the next compilation.

How to play with mods with your friends

The best way to play with your friends with all these beautiful mods is to connect your computers in one local network with Radmin VPN. Create a common network within 10 minutes and play.

World modification modes

Optifine
  • Requires: Nothing – unless you want to run with Forge, in which case you’ll also need to download OptiForge and MixinBootstrap, and place all three jar files in your Minecraft mods folder.

  • Optifine makes your Minecraft beautiful. It’s the most popular existing Minecraft mod. The mod increases a number of customization options for Minecraft’s graphics and rendering

WorldEdit
  • Quickly create, replace or delete thousands of blocks in seconds. No longer waste time doing mundane activities like fix badly flowing water! Quickly create basic shapes like spheres, cylinders, and so on. Copy areas, paste them, load them, and save them as .schematics. Do cool things like input mathematical expressions to generate terrain

  • Use "brush tools" to carve out mountains, ravines, and so on. Use your compass to quickly teleport to areas by left clicking or using /jumpto. Choose an area and have it instantly restored from backups

Items management
JEI (Just Enough Items)
  • Just Enough Items (JEI) is an alternative to NEI and TMI. JEI modifies the existing Inventory GUI by adding an icon list of items to the far right. This list can be searched via a text box at the bottom. This list is useful for checking recipes and uses for items, and can also be used to search for items in opened GUIs. JEI has a lot of addons, generally adding extra modded recipe support

Useful Backpacks
  • Requires: U Team Core

  • Need more inventory storage? Then try this mod. It adds three new backpacks with small, medium and large inventory.

Corail Tombstone
  • This mod puts all your belongings into a nearby tombstone after you die

Inventory Sorter

A small mod for sorting your inventory by clicking on one button near it.

Navigation modes

Immersive Portals

Simple Planes

With this mod you will be able to build wooden planes and fly. You won’t need too much resources for one plane.

Xaero's Minimap

  • It's the first rotating square minimap for Minecraft. There is a toggle to make it lock north and not rotate (the arrow approach). There are 2 mod editions, full and fair-play. You can place waypoints. The minimap also displays entities, such as players, mobs and items.

Nature’s Compass
  • Nature's Compass is a utility item that allows you to search for a biome's location anywhere in the world and view information about it.

JourneyMap
  • It is a client+server mod for Forge which maps your Minecraft world in real-time as you explore. You can view the map in a web browser or in-game as a Minimap or full-screen.

Resource mining

Clumps

Clumps groups XP orbs together into a single entity to reduce lag when there are many in a small area. Ontop of this, it also makes the player immediately collect the orbs once they touch the player, so you are not stuck with a bunch of orbs in your face.

KleeSlabs

This mod allows you to break only one half of a double slab. The half that is broken depends on which half you're looking at.

Miner's Helmet

This is a very simple mod that just adds a mining helmet that lights up your way in dark areas such as caves and ravines. Zombies can spawn with Iron Pickaxes, and mining helmets.

Fast Leaf Decay
  • Reduces the time of despawn for tree leaves. All the leaves despawn in 2 seconds with this mod. It’s great for farming.

Fight, life and death

SwingThroughGrass
  • Tiny mod that tries to eliminate those kind of situations when "I wanted to hit the mob, not the grass". Now you can hit mobs behind the grass! This works on every block that have no collision box (i.e. you can walk through it) not only vanilla but also modded ones, e.g. grass, flowers, saplings and even cobweb. Must-have for modpacks that rely on combat mechanics.

Gravestone
  • This mod adds a gravestone to your Minecraft world. When you die a gravestone will be placed at your death position and the players name is written on it. Optionally you can get a piece of paper with the necessary informations about your death. There is also an option to automatically remove this item when you break the gravestone. When you break the gravestone it will drop the items of your inventory. If you enable the gamerule keepInventory there will be placed no gravestone.

AppleSkin
  • Requires: Forge or Fabric

  • Indicates food saturation of each item and shows how much do you need to get to replenish the hunger.

How to install modes

First, you will need to have a PC version of Minecraft. Not only that, you will need to have the Java version of the game. If you have the Windows 10 version, there's some very limited addons you can install, but they aren't anywhere near the mods that can be added to the Java version. Now that you have that squared away, you will want to download Forge, which has been updated for 1.16. Make sure to download the Installer version unless you have a good idea of what you're doing. That will automatically install it into your Minecraft folder, and you will be able to launch the Forge version from the Minecraft launcher.

Go ahead and launch Minecraft, you will now see a Mods selection on the first screen you see when you open up Minecraft. Click on that then click on the Open Mods Folder button at the bottom left corner. You can now just drop any mods you download right into that folder and manage them in the game with Forge!
