Resident Evil how to play in LAN for free

This guide is for players, who want to set up Resident Evil 5 coop for free in LAN both for Steam and non-Steam versions.


Step 1
Download & Install Resident Evil 5 For Free Here, or the Steam Version.

Step 2
Download LAN Fix here, then replace the files in the game folder with those from the downloaded LAN Fix.

Step 3
Open SmartSteamEmu.ini and change your Username ("PersonaName") to what you want.

Step 4
Go To "Resident Evil 5 (Game Directory) > settings > account_name.txt", and change it to your Username.

Step 5
In "settings > user_steam_id.txt", Make sure the id is different on each client/computer (The length of id must be the same)

Step 6

Install RadminVPN and set it up before launching the game by following these simple steps:

1 Everybody who want to play need to install Radmin VPN

2 Create your Network by clicking on "Create Network". Set up Network name and Password

3 Share network name and password with your teammates.

4 Your friends need to join your network by clicking on a "Join Network" in Radmin VPN.

Step 7

Run "RE5LAN.exe" as administrator after doing the previous steps.

How To Host Resident Evil 5 Co-op Game

Step 1

After launching the game go to "Play Game > Chapter Select > Any Difficulty", change network to local and start Game to host.

Step 2
Wait for your friends to join, When they will join you will get a screen notification (YourFriendUsername has requested to join your game.) Press enter to let him join

Step 1
After launching the game go to "Play Game > Join Game >", change network to Local, and start the game.

Step 2
Go to Custom Match > Start Search, and look for the game you want, and click to join.


Question 1
Is giving my Radmin VPN IP to a random person safe?

Yes, It is safe to give your RadminVPN IP to random person he can just join with it, but giving your public IP is not safe. (Your Router IP)

Question 2
I am not able to find the game, how do I fix it?

Try Disabling Firewall,

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Select System and Security.
  3. Choose Windows Firewall.
  4. Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off on the left side of the screen.
  5. Select the bubble next to Turn off Windows Firewall.
  6. Select OK to save the changes.

If it still doesn't work, try pinging your friend on Radmin VPN

Question 3
I am not able to join game, how do I fix it?

Make sure your "user_steam_id.txt" is different from your friends.

Question 4
I don’t want to make it a non-steam version, How do I do it?

Ans: Skip Step 1 to Step 5, if you don’t want to make it with a non-steam version. (You can’t do this for free, you have to own the game on steam)
