Install Nitrox mod The only way to access multiplayer in the game is by installing
Nitrox mod. But due to Subnautica's recent update "Living Large", Nitrox is currently not compatible. However you can still use older version of Subnautica in order to play Nitrox. You can do so by following these steps. Changing Subnautica to Legacy Build on STEAM:
1. Right click Subnautica in Steam
2. Click Properties
3. Click Betas
4. Select Legacy - Public legacy builds
5. Close it out and let Steam download and install the Legacy version of Subnautica.
Host Multiplayer Game
Step 1: Install Radmin VPN and create a network Download and install Radmin VPN. In the main Radmin VPN window, click "Create Network".
Enter the network name, password and click "Create".
Step 2: Ask your friends to join the network Send your friends the name of the Radmin VPN network and the password to join to this network.
Step 3: Add the game to the firewall exceptions You need to add rules to the firewall. Open Radmin VPN -> System -> Firewall Exceptions and add "Subnautica.exe" to the exceptions.
Step 4: Create game Run Nitrox Launcher as Administrator and click "Options".
Check "Subnautica Installation" option. Specify the path to the game folder if it was not found automatically.
Go to "Server" section and click "Start Server".
After Server starts go to "Play Game" section and launch Subnautica through Nitrox by clicking "Play Multiplayer".
In Subnautica main menu click "Multiplayer".
Click "Add server". Enter "Server name" and your IP address from Radmin VPN. Click "Add".
Click "Connect to..." to join the server you just created.
Enter your username and pick a colour of your liking. Then, press "Join".
Join Multiplayer Game
Step 1: Install Radmin VPN and connect to the network Download and install Radmin VPN. In the main Radmin VPN window, click "Join Network". Enter the Network Name and Password and click "Join".
Make sure you and your friends are on the same network.
Step 2: Add Rules to the Firewall You need to add rules to the firewall. Open Radmin VPN -> System -> Firewall Exceptions and add "Subnautica.exe" to the exceptions.
Step 3: Join the game Run Nitrox Launcher as Administrator and click "Options".
Check "Subnautica Installation" option. Specify the path to the game folder if it was not found automatically.
Go to "Play Game" section and launch Subnautica through Nitrox by clicking "Play Multiplayer".
In Subnautica main menu click "Multiplayer".
In the servers list find yours and click "Connect to..." to join the server.
Enter your username and pick a colour of your liking. Then, press "Join".
